The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provided financial means to the German Alumni Water Network (GAWN) for organising an Alumni Expert Seminar held in João Pessoa (Northeast of Brazil). The Expert Seminar “Rural Sanitation and Watershed Management in Latin America” was scheduled from 30th August to 5th September, 2009. 
 
The main topic was “Rural Sanitation and Watershed Management in Latin America”
 
Following subtopics were covered:
 - Water supply and wastewater disposal as an integrated concept
 - Quantity and quality of drinking water
 - Water quality management
 - Wastewater disposal
 - Reuse, legal basis, methods of resolution
 
Participants and international guest lectureres held presentations which might be downloaded below. Group discussions and group work intensified the scientific exchange. An excursion  to the Gramame Catchment visualized the situation in water supply and waste water sector.
